The UK Lightweight knife was developed after the UK prohibited the carry of folding knives with locking blades.
It combines the defining features of Spyderco's revolutionary CLIPIT knives with an improved, non-locking notch-joint mechanism.
This uniquely functional knife has leaf-shaped blade design, featuring opposing jimping on the thumb ramp and index-finger choil for positive control.
Spyderco’s UK Lightweight knife features a plain edge grind. This is a sharpened edge with no serrations or teeth, sometimes referred to as a "smooth" edge.
The Leaf-Shaped Blade was developed and refined by Spyderco. It is similar to a spear-point, but not completely symmetrical, and has a more acute point and typically no swedge.
The Blade Grind is a full-flat grind.
The UK Lightweight Knife has a slipjoint, non-locking mechanism in which the blade is held open by spring pressure on a flat section on the back of the blade's tang.
The handle is made of FRN (Fibreglass Reinforced Nylon), a nylon polymer mixed with glass fibre that can be injection moulded. Lightweight and extremely strong, it is used in the manufacture of formed, textured knife handles.
