Aerodynamically bumble bees shouldn't be able to fly. Too bad someone forgot to tell the bees that.
This knife defies both nature and expectation that something this small performs such a grand manoeuvre. Like bumblebees, Spyderco HoneyBees perform the unexpected. Our smallest folders, they pack a stinging cutting clout in micro-sized Slipits. Its 1.5-inch blade easily tackles serious cutting chores and when closed it literally disappears into your pocket until needed again. Overall length is 3.66" (93mm), closed length is 2.06" (52mm), blade length is 1.6" (41mm) and weight is .6oz (17g). Blade Steel is 3Cr.
Resistance pressure at the knife's pivot area holds the blade open and extended when cutting. Handles are flat with a small stainless surface ready for you to engrave, embellish or customise as jewellery or a gift item. Handle lanyard-hole accommodates a necklace-chain or keychain.
The honeybee exhibits a Plain Edge grind. This is a sharpened edge with no serrations or teeth, sometimes referred to as a "smooth" edge. The spine of the blade follows a subtle convex arc to the point.
A blade ground with flat bevels that extend from the spine all the way to the cutting edge. This grind reduces drag during cutting and decreases overall weight.
Boasting a Slip-Joint folding mechanism, this non-locking mechanism holds open the blade by spring pressure on a flat section on the back of the blade's tang.
Steel containing a minimum of 12% chromium, making the steel resistant to corrosion. The chromium oxide (CrO) in the steel creates a barrier to oxygen and moisture, thus inhibiting rust formation.
